Is my PDF uploaded to add a watermark?
No. Your PDF opens and gets stamped locally in the browser tab, with no server in the loop. Only the watermarked copy you save ever leaves your device.
What can I put in the watermark?
Any text you type — common ones are DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, or "Do not copy," but you can stamp a company name, a date, or an ownership line just as easily.
Does it go on every page?
Yes. The wording you enter is stamped across each page of the PDF, so the mark stays with the document no matter which page someone is looking at.
Is it free, and does Penstead add its own watermark?
It’s free with no login, and the only mark on the file is the one you typed. We never stamp our own name on your document.
Can the watermark be removed later?
The watermark becomes part of the downloaded file, so keep your original if you’ll need a clean version. It’s meant to travel with copies you share, not to be peeled off afterward.
