Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

Is it really free, and will there be a watermark?

Can I actually change the existing words, or only add new text?

Why can’t I click the text on my scanned PDF?
A scan is an image, so there’s no selectable text underneath. You can annotate on top of it, or run OCR first to recognize the words.
Will editing mess up the layout?
Edits stay on the page you’re working on. Retyping a short line usually looks clean; heavily formatted paragraphs can shift, so preview before you download.
